Nominator's project description
| Dr. Casassa is an internationally well recognised authority in glaciology with a focus on the southern Andes, who has played a key role in fostering the study of glaciers in Chile and Latin America. His substantial contribution to the IPCC Report 2207 and his active participation in the initiation of the International Polar Year (IPY) 2007/2008 have to be highlighted. During his stay in Germany he intends to extend his joint research with German colleagues concerning global change impact on the glaciers in Patagonia and Antarctica. |
